It’s February already and the chapter is off to a fast and productive pace. The energy is contagious and our community partners can’t stop talking about the difference we’re making in the Winter Park area. Last week the chapter donated 25 male hygiene supply baskets to Space to Grow (STG), a Community-based organization dedicated to giving back to women, men, children and families in the Orlando community. They bring joy by donating much needed toiletries to the Coalition for the Homeless through their annual Baskets of Love Event (BOL). These baskets included items such as deodorant, shampoo and conditioner, toothbrush & toothpaste, body lotion, shaving cream and razors. Many thanks to our Community Service Committee for making this donation possible.
Brothers also made significant strides in their careers. Brother John F. Davis became the newly appointed Executive Vice President of the Orlando Economic Partnership and President of the Orlando Regional Chamber of Commerce and Brother Jeffery Epting Jr. was nominated for Teacher of the Year in the Port St. Lucie School System. It should be noted that this is his first year teaching. Kudos to our own and others in the chapter that continue to demonstrate that Achievement is in our DNA.
In other news, it was also exciting to see that Brother Erick Wicker was recently honored as Winter Park Volunteer of the Year during the annual recognition of the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce Membership Awards Celebration. Additionally, Brother Darrell Butler also moderated the Unity Networking Mixer’s Humble+Hungry Series: Ladder Builders Event.
Our Kappa League recently participated in the annual Martin Luther King Memorial Parade and the community fully embraced them as thy shared what the holiday truly meant to each of them. We are proud of their commitment to excellence and look forward to the next chapter in their lives. Thank you to Brother Derek Walls and his team of committed Kappa League Advisors for challenging the young men to think Big!
As Polemarch, I’m proud of the work we’re doing and for your continued support to our very ambitious vision! I especially appreciate the efforts of our officers and leadership team that are not afraid to roll up their sleeves and figure out a way to execute, even when a blueprint doesn’t exist! That’s my kind of Team!
